Best Reclining Office Chairs

8 Best Reclining Office Chairs of 2024

Modular office furniture is magical. You can transform your workspace for improved energy, focus, and productivity throughout the day and quickly change it all back again to meet other daily needs the room serves.

A reclining office chair is a great example of these benefits in action. It works just like a typical office chair but then goes a step further by letting you stretch out to prevent aches and pains for more comfortable and productive work. You can also rest and refuel between work sessions to take your productivity further. When your day is over, you can close it back up and tuck it back under the desk. Presto!

These benefits make a reclining office chair a helpful addition to any home office setup. Still, not all chairs do their jobs well. These do.

I have a background in interior design and furniture sales and have a home office. These experiences have exposed me to a vast array of designs. Here is my list of the best reclining office chairs this year. I cover a range of styles to ensure you have the right design for your needs.

So kick back, relax, and let’s start shopping!

WINNERS

They lean further back farther than typical office chairs – some as far as 170 degrees. Some even have a footrest that rolls out from under the seat so that you can prop your feet up for comfort while working or resting.

The traits I look for in a reclining chair are:

  • Quality: High-quality ergonomic chairs last longer, providing benefits for your dollar.
  • Comfort: This trait allows for less neck and back pain and stiffness, allowing for longer work hours so that you get more done.
  • Reclining ability: The further back it goes, the more rest you get.
  • Width: The wider the chair, the more wiggle room you have and the less cramped you are for improved rest.
  • Adjustable arms: The more you can adjust the arms, the more comfortable you are. If the arms don’t slide downward, they should at least pivot down as the chair back descends.
  • Swivel: All reclining chairs should double as swivel chairs for optimal daily performance.
  • Footrest: An office chair with foot rest capability brings improved comfort.

Best Overall Recliner

SeekFancy Reclining Office Chair

What I Love

Finding a fully reclining office chair is surprisingly tricky… until you learn why. Balance is essential in an office chair. The last thing you want to worry about while leaning back is crashing to the floor.

Many office chairs recline to 120 or 130 degrees, but going further requires a specialized design. I have yet to find an office chair that goes back to 180 degrees or more, but this one offers 170 degrees, making it one of the best options.

But that’s not all this chair offers. It even holds users up to 500 lbs. and has a tall back, making it a fantastic choice for big and tall users. It also has a comfortable width and a breathable, spongy seat, so you won’t overheat. At the same time, you get ample cushion.

The arms aren’t adjustable, but extra wide seating offers ample comfort.

You also have decent lumbar support with the kidney pillow. This is a tremendous overall chair for a true recline. Amazingly, this chair was well-priced. Best of all, it’s very good-looking.

This chair is only sometimes in stock, but it is worth the wait. Others listed below may still meet your needs if you are on a time crunch. The closest may be the Comermax Big and Tall Home Office Desk Chair.

Best Lumbar Support and Footrest

Hbada E3 Ergonomic Office Chair

What I Love

If you prioritize a chair with adjustable lumbar support over other factors, this chair has you covered – literally. You get the rear support like most chairs and added side support, which is rare for an office chair. The quality of the lumbar support makes it one of the best out there. You also get neck support and comfortable curves that naturally support the spine. This is an excellent choice if you have scoliosis.

The chair also prevents you from overheating thanks to a mesh back, a trait that few chairs with a foot rest offer.

You won’t recline very far (115 degrees), but you get a foot rest for added comfort. This is narrower than other chairs on the list, but the lumbar support keeps you tucked in, and the armrest also adjusts downward for more comfort.

Best High-Back Office Chair

Winrise Office Chair Ergonomic Desk Chair

What I Love

This is a terrific option if you are looking for a chair with headrest compatibility even though you sacrifice the footrest. You get a wide headrest that is well-designed to fit your neck comfortably. The support also adjusts up and down and sideways to 60 degrees, which is more than many other chairs in the market.

You still get adaptive lumbar support and a high-density sponge seat for true comfort. The mesh office chair design along the back keeps you cool while you work. You can choose from three pre-set tilt angles. This is another narrow chair option on the list, but the adjustable armrests bring improved comfort. You can choose

It is also well priced at under $200. This, combined with the other benefits, has made this high back desk chair a popular choice on Amazon. You can also choose from eight color options, ensuring you look good and feel good at your desk.

Best Executive Office Chair with Footrest

BestEra Office Chair, Big and Tall Office Chair

What I Love

This one is among my favorite executive chairs thanks to its clean design, quality, and recline ability. It’s a good-looking chair for sure, but you still get the comfort and a decent decline of 135 degrees, and you likely won’t want more. The padded back also makes it extra comfy.

The company makes versions with and without the foot rest, each with different arm styles. This one with the foot rest doesn’t have arms that lift up and out of the way, but the rotating angles on the arm rests keep the height of the arms in a lower position for comfortable arm placement while resting.

The lumbar support works well, yet the chair’s style is still very clean. The seat is also rather interesting. You get a high-quality sponge material on top of springs and a firm board that provides added support for your hips. It is firmer in the center of the seat than the edge, which actually adds to the comfort.

The company says it is a leather office chair, but if you dig deeper, you will find it is PU leather, which won’t last as long. Still, it has a rich look while keeping the price down to a very comfortable $230. You can choose from four colors, and each is beautiful. And though

Best Big and Tall Office Chair

Comermax Big and Tall Home Office Desk Chairs

What I Love

A big and tall chair must have two traits: it must be big and it must be tall. Other chairs on this list, like the SeekFancy Reclining Office Chair, offer these traits, but this is a strong alternative.

This chair has the same overall recline of 170 degrees, holds up to 400 lbs., and is about an inch higher on the back.

Best Game Chair

BestOffice Ergonomic Office, PC Gaming Chair

What I Love

The unique look of a game chair is because it is made to be used over long periods. This one fits the bill both as a gaming chair and office task chair. You get many of the benefits of others on this list, along with the added benefit of bucket seats and soft cushioning in a relatively thin profile.

The adjustable lumbar support fits differing posture needs and works with the headrest and curved back for a strong blend of back and neck comfort.

You can recline in any position, and the back extends back 155 degrees, allowing you to hit the right angle for you.

It comes in breathable PU leather and seven color styles, making it easier to match your desk setup. You will have that customary game chair look resembling an ergonomic racing chair. You’ll feel like you are sitting in a Porsche.

Best Reclining Office Chair with Massage

TonghuaS Reclining Massage Office Chair with Footrest

What I Love

If you want to relax in your chair, what better way than with a massager? This chair is designed to provide you with many of the key features offered by other reclining chairs but with that added nudge of relaxing massage.

It doesn’t tilt as far back as other designs (the product shows a discrepancy between 130 and 140 degrees), but this is a reclining office chair with footrest capability, and once you use that little foot rest, you’ll find you are comfortable enough.

You get five vibrating settings for two areas of your back and three areas of the footrest. It’s sure to hit the spot. You also can indulge in the heating function along the back to relax muscles further.

Many massage chairs are massive and unattractive, but this design strikes the right balance of design and functionality. You are sure to get more done with this chair throughout the day.
